Scholarships

The HBALC Foundation established the Jack Dilloway Scholarship in 1999 to honor its founding member and his lifelong commitment to both the housing industry and to the education of future generations of home builders.

Mr. Dilloway was a builder and developer in Livingston County, Michigan and surrounding areas.  He served his local, state and National Association of Home Builders during his lifetime. His philanthropic contributions throughout the years benefited his church, his community, his industry and his peers. His dedicated leadership and his exemplary life will remain an inspiration to all those lives he touched during his lifetime.

The Jack Dilloway Scholarship application deadline for each calendar year is in March. Funds are disbursed to chosen recipients in July for the fall school term.

Each year the HBALC Foundation Board determines how many scholarships will be awarded. The amounts have recently been $1,000 per chosen applicant.  Through calendar year 2005, $15,000 in scholarships have been awarded to deserving students who are pursuing a career in the building trades.

To date, an additional $18,300 has been given to local educational institutions to support their construction trades programs, including the Livingston Technical Academy and the Michigan Regional Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Howell and the Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA).
